Water Level in Manning Lake

Whatever else we did at the park, every week we took a photo of the water level marker, around the south west side of the lake, near the birds' preening area. At the end of the term, we graphed the lake's changing water level.

Here are our photos, our data and our graph.

In just over a month (35 days), the water level dropped by 20 cm.

Reasons for the drop the children came up with were; because it stopped raining, lots of tortoises were born (which drink the water) and the water in the lake evaporated.

Many of us have seen the lake almost completely dry at the end of summer.
